Nine Songs You May have Missed from the Nineties

The nineties were a big part of music for me. Of course, i loved songs from all the decades up to that point. But, I think most people have a special place in their heart for the music of their High School years. Having graduated in *gulp* 1993, i was on the cusp of a world of changing music. I started High School listening to "hair metal" and ended up finding stuff like The Cure, Nine Inch Nails, Primus, Jane’s Addiction, and a smattering of grunge-related music. I consider 1988-1993 the "real" era of alternative music, as opposed this mainstream crap that passes for alternative these days. Back in those days the local alternative radio station really rocked some good tunes and had some great DJ’s (George Gimark and Jeff K spring to mind). I was young, formidable, and stepped into a music scene that i’m still a big part of almost two decades later. It’s been a fun ride, folks.

Included in this update are nine little songs that may have slipped under the radar of the average radio listener of those days, or if you came into the "scene" a little later.

The songs can be found at: http://www.gigasize.com/get.php/-1099887436/ninties.zip

and include the following awesomeness:

School Of Fish – Three Strange Days

They Eat Their Own – Like A Drug

Drivin’ and Cryin’ – Fly Me Courageous

Frazier Chorus – Cloud 8 (Acoustic)

Lightning Seeds – The Life of Riley

Screaming Trees – Nearly Lost You

Teenage Fanclub – The Concept

The Wonder Stuff – A Wish Away

Tabula Rasa – Blue Revolution

  2. Hey, I ran across this post and had to read it. I love George Gimark. He tough me everyting I needed to know about “true” alternative music. Its too bad that the Edge doesn’t play it anymore. I’ve been on a mission lately to re-discover the music I used to love. This is awesome to see other people doing the same. Keep it alive.
